Plenty of New Items

Since my last update to the news, I have added several items to my collection. The way in which I had coded the site made me lazy in terms of adding a new post to the news. I had to modify several files for a single update @_@! But now, i have coded a little php script which will allow me to post news more efficiently. There is also a RSS feed now :D (GoloHobbitNewsRssFeed)

Anyways, these are the items I have added to my shelves recently:
* Translations:
   - English: The Hobbit (Unwin Books, 1974), The Hobbit 75th year Anniversary (Harper-Collins, 2011), The Hobbit (The Folio Society, 2002)
   - Marathi: द हॉबिट (Diamond Books Pune, 2011) (Thanks Henk on getting this one!!!)

* Other media:
   - The Hobbit (High Bridge, CD, 2001)
   - The Hobbit (Illustrated) (Ballantine Books, 1978)

* Hobbit-related items:
   - Bilbo's Last Song (Poem) (Hutchinson, 1990)
   - Magical Worlds (Stamps) (Royal Mail, 1998)
   - Poems from The Hobbit(Book of poems) (Harper-Collins, 1993)
   - The Map of Tolkien's The Hobbit (Booklet+Map) (Harper-Collins, 1995)
   - TOLKIEN: The Centenary 1892-1992 (Stamps) (Royal Mail, 1992)

The Hobbit (Postcards)

AbeBooks is sure a good source for Hobbit-related stuff at very decent prizes. This week I got my hands on a small booklet with 20 postcards. 20 illustrations done by different artists among which you can find Alan Lee, John Howe, Roger Garland, David Wenzel, etc.
Check it out here.

The Hobbit (Playscript)

I got my hands on a very damaged copy (but very very cheap) of The Hobbit in its playscript edition. It was dramatized by Patricia Gray, with the permission of Professor Tokien, and the copy I own was published in 1968.
Check it out here

هابيت (Farsi)

I went to the Post Office to pick up the lastest item in my collection: (Farsi, 2008). And I have to admit I am really disappointed. I ordered this book because the other Farsi edition I owned had no pictures and was quite dull. The cover of this other edition looks much better, with an image of Gandalf rushing through the forest. And so I ordered it from Ferdosi.com
The only 'decent' image in this book is the one in the cover. The rest that are included in the book have been STOLEN from sources on the web. I am sure about this, because all the images are pixelated and I have seen them in other editions. The publisher sank so low as to include the cartoon images from , in such a low quality, that they look horribly pixelated. I think someone should teach the editors in the publisher كتاب پنجره how to tick "HQ" in Google Image Seach. I'm totally disappointed!

'O Hobbit' (Portuguese, Brazil)

Yesterday I met with my friend Rafa. We had been flatmates in Barcelona when I first moved here to work. Almost 2 years ago he got in a very interesting program organized by the ICEX and he's been living in Brazil for almost 1 year. As a flatmate for a couple of years, he knew about my weird collection and now that he's back in Spain he brought me a copy of the 2011 edition of The Hobbit. It's the translation done by Lenita Maria Rimoli Esteves and differs from the Portuguese edition, although it's the same language.
Check out more about this edition (and see a couple of pictures) in the translations page by selecting "Portuguese" from the drop-down menu. You can also compare it with the other Portuguese edition and see that they are indeed different.
